Who We Are

AEA is a global consulting firm, creating inspired solutions that solve complex issues in the areas of climate change, energy and environment. Our solutions are optimised by expert knowledge management and innovative IT.

We work with governments and businesses worldwide to address the challenges that they face, helping to transform the way they work through the creation of profitable and sustainable solutions.

AEA's heritage stems from the energy and environmental sectors. The acquisition of US based Project Performance Corporation (PPC) in 2008 enhanced our capabilities, combining environmental expertise with  IT and data management know-how.

Our multi-disciplinary team of over 900 technical, specialist and management consultants, project management experts, information technology and marketing professionals enable us to deliver a range of fully integrated offerings for our customers, bringing together energy, environment and IT expertise and applying this in the business and organisational context of our clients.

For nearly 40 years, AEA has helped hundreds of public and private sector organisations in the UK and overseas to respond to environmental challenges and opportunities created by worldwide drivers - energy and climate change, air and environmental quality, risk management and due diligence, resource efficiency and waste management, sustainable transport, innovation and knowledge transfer, and sustainability.

AEA has been one of the UK Government’s top advisors on climate change issues for nearly four decades and over the last ten years we have helped UK business save over £2bn through resource efficiency programmes. We were the UK Government’s principal technical consultant for the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme and through the projects we manage have helped achieve a 3.1m tonne reduction in CO2 emissions.

AEA is also responsible for developing the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) report, which is regarded as the "golden standard for carbon reporting".

AEA Shortlisted for 2010 EDIE Award

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) managed by AEA's Knowledge Leader, Christine St John Cox has been shortlisted for an EDIE Award under the Carbon Reduction category.

The Carbon Disclosure Project encourages organisations to disclose their emissions and submit them to scrutiny. Companies increasingly realise there is no such thing as a single carbon footprint. The ambition is to encourage organisations to manage their activities in a way that fosters best practice, raises standards year on year, and includes emissions that are not directly generated by the companies themselves.

In partnership with 14 Government departments and executive agencies, AEA worked in an unprecedented way to engage their suppliers in disclosing their emissions. This involved contacting the UK Government's supply chain, requesting disclosure, assessing them and providing feedback. Details can be found in the CDP report

The 2010 cycle of the programme will capture an expanded list of Government departments including the Department for Work and Pensions and will target double the number of supplier organisations. See www.cdproject.net or contact Christine St John Cox for more information.
