December 18 - AEA to provide earth observation and greenhouse gas data to Sky News
AEA, on behalf of and working with the European Space Agency, has launched a new and groundbreaking service to provide earth observation imagery and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions information to the media and public. The first user to sign up to the service is Sky News.

That is the message of a new report published today by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) which reveals the need for better integration of carbon reduction strategies within suppliers’ organisational policies.

November 13 - AEA wins EDIE Carbon Reduction award for Green 500 programme
Funded by the London Development Agency (LDA), and managed by AEA, Green500 aims to reduce the capital's CO2 emissions by 1.5 million tonnes over two and a half years. It has enlisted some of London's largest and most prestigious organisations to take part in a programme of activities designed to reduce the carbon footprint of their London operations.

October 22 - AEA wins Cross Compliance Advice Programme
Leading climate change consultancy AEA has been awarded a contract by Natural England to provide advice to farmers Land owners and advisers on the cross compliance regulations. This includes Statutory Management Requirements (SMR’s) and Good Agricultural and Environmental Condition (GAEC) – which are required standards relating to public health, animal and plant health, environmental protection and animal welfare.

October 7 - AEA identifies new opportunities from Carbon Reduction Commitment guidelines
AEA Technology welcomes the policy decisions on the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme which are published today. The Government, for which AEA is principal technical adviser on the CRC, has announced that the first year of the scheme, which will run from April 2010 to March 2011, will now be a reporting year only. This means that there will now no longer be a requirement to buy emissions allowances for that period of the scheme.
September 25 - AEA to boost links between research and schools through £1.2m RCUK 'Researchers in Residence' programme
AEA has been awarded the management of a major educational programme called ‘Researchers in Residence’ which places young post-graduate researchers into UK schools to work alongside teachers and students in the classroom. Set to last for three years, the aim of the programme is to raise awareness of the value of modern-day research across all disciplines and to encourage young people to consider research as a career.

June 26 - Electric car trial puts AEA on road to success
A consortium led by AEA, the leading climate change and energy consultancy is one of eight consortia across the UK to secure government investment in a programme that will see over 340 Ultra Low Carbon Vehicle’s trialled on the UK’s roads.
June 19 - AEA advises government on conditions for new UK coal power stations
Clean coal technology could bring between £2-4 billion a year into the UK economy by 2030, and support between 30,000-60,000 in jobs such as engineering, manufacturing and procurement, according to report by AEA. The report, 'Future Value Of Coal Carbon Abatement Technologies To UK Industry' by AEA, was published on 17 June alongside the Government's consultation document 'A framework for the development of clean coal'. The consultation follows Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband's announcement in April that the government would not permit new coal-fired power stations without carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology.
Under the government's proposals, new coal-fired power plants will not be given consent unless they demonstrate CCS on at least 300MW of capacity from day one, with each demonstration project required to store 20 million tonnes of carbon dioxide over 10 to 15 years.
